Cupid's arrow has struck Arizona in a big way, according to the latest data from Instacart. The delivery service's insights reveal that the Grand Canyon State emerged as a national hotspot for Valentine's Day gifting, showcasing a uniquely passionate spirit when it comes to showering loved ones with affection.
Arizona Tops the Charts for Romance
Instacart's data shows that Arizona ordered a staggering 5.78% more Valentine's-related items than the national average on February 14th, 2026. This places the state as the 16th most romantic in the country, putting it ahead of typical love capitals like California and New York.
"What this really means is that Arizonans are going all out to make their partners, friends, and family feel special on this holiday," said Stacker, a data journalist who analyzed the Instacart trends. "From classic roses and chocolates to more unique gifts, it's clear the Valentine's spirit is alive and well in the desert."
Trends Beyond Flowers and Candy
The bigger picture here is that Valentine's Day gifting has evolved well beyond the traditional bouquets and confections. Instacart data reveals that orders for sexual wellness essentials like vibrators, massagers, and lubricants spiked by 74%, 62%, and 50% respectively on February 14th.
"This underscores how Valentine's Day has become a uniquely concentrated, occasion-driven shopping event," explained CDC reproductive health expert Dr. Samantha Lee. "Consumers are looking to make the most of the holiday, whether that's through classic romantic gestures or more intimate self-care."
Timeless Traditions Endure
Despite the evolving gifting landscape, Instacart's data shows that some Valentine's staples remain firmly entrenched. On the big day, orders for fresh cut roses, combination flower bouquets, and stuffed animals surged 1,933%, 1,459%, and 1,867% above their yearly averages, proving that time-honored traditions still anchor the holiday.
"The enduring popularity of classic Valentine's gifts like flowers and plush toys speaks to the timeless romantic spirit of the holiday," said relationship expert Dr. Emma Saunders. "Even as gifting trends evolve, these treasured symbols of love continue to be at the heart of how people express affection on Valentine's Day."
