The very best of L.A. & Orange County

Namaste! Whether it’s time to get a little Vinyassa flow going or you’re ready to focus your breathing in a Kundalini class, where are the best spots to say ‘om?’ On the westside of LA, you’ll find plenty of studio choices beyond the chains – not faulting the bigger players for yogis, but why not try something a little more personal? Each of these gems are quality spots to unroll your mat. So what are you waiting for? Get down, dog.

Red Diamond Yoga

At Red Diamond yoga, there are Vinyassa Flow, Yoga Sculpt, and Power Fusion classes for all levels. And there are after school workshop classes for kids, too. But one of the most popular classes around is the Friday night Yin Yoga with massage. This candle-lit class passively stretches connective tissues, and guides students into the bliss of a hands-on massage for a peak restorative experience. A new student special offers ten classes for $10, too.

Yoga Nest Venice

Just one block from Venice Beach, this intimate space is known for its high-energy instruction and welcoming vibe. The studio even provides mats, props, towels and purified water. From Vinyassa Flow to candle light flow and their relaxing evening Chill Yin, this is a friendly, feels-like-family yoga community. Entrance is in an alley beneath a painting of a Buddha, setting the positive energy flowing from the moment yogis step inside.

With $10 drop-in classes from Vinyasa to yin all day and a variety of workshops and soothing special events like first-Friday sound baths, the peaceful two-room studio has something for every practitioner, from beginner to the most experienced. But what it doesn’t have is a front desk, so students should be prepared to pay instructors directly with cash, check, or Square.

If Kundalini yoga is your preference, Golden Bridge offers just that, along with meditation, sound baths, and a beautiful setting. From studio design elements that include wood imported from India to a boutique shop and a cup of tea after class, Golden Bridge is an inclusive experience, and a popular one – yogis should allow plenty of time to get to classes, especially on weekends.
